Interest Calculation

  • Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of every month.
  • Therefore, it is best to deposit before the 5th of each month, especially if making monthly contributions.

Partial Withdrawal

You can make partial withdrawals:

  • From the 7th financial year onward.
  • Subject to government rules and withdrawal limits.

Loan Facility

You can take a loan against your PPF balance:

  • Between the 3rd and 6th financial year.
  • Interest on the loan is lower than most personal loans.

Maturity and Extension

After 15 years, you can:

  1. Withdraw the entire amount.
  2. Extend for another 5 years with contributions.
  3. Extend for another 5 years without contributions.

There is no limit on how many 5-year extensions you can choose.
